5 Activities the Entire Family can Enjoy this Fall

As summer comes to a close many of us are preparing to head back to school or are revving things back up at work. But that doesn’t mean the fun has to end! Here are a few fall activities the whole family – grandparents, parents and kids—can enjoy together this fall.

Hiking. Vancouver is surrounded by an abundance of mountain trails, many of them boasting relatively flat terrain, that can be enjoyed year-round. Pack up a fall picnic, bundle up in your hiking boots and rain jackets and head off for a walk at Lighthouse Park or Quarry Rock which are both relatively easy trails suitable for all ages.

Cooking and Baking. If you went berry-picking this summer then you likely have a freezer full of fruit with which to make pies, tarts, muffins and cakes. Organize a baking afternoon where grandma, grandpa and the kids all work together to make an array of sweet treats.

Painting. Another fun afternoon activity is to throw on a smock, grab a few paintbrushes, canvases and acrylic or watercolour paints and enjoy a family afternoon of creativity. If you want some expert guidance, sign up for a group painting class at 4Cats Arts Studio which has locations on Main Street, in Kitsilano and in North Vancouver, among others in B.C. and across Canada.

Bowling. Heading out for a few rounds of bowling is a wonderful way for grandparents, parents and kids to spend a chilly fall evening or weekend together. It’s also a great way to get the blood flowing while practicing those hand-eye coordination skills!

Pottery. Don some smocks and get messy as you create beautiful works of pottery art with your loved ones. Bella Ceramica studio has pottery classes for all levels, including children and beginners! https://bellaceramicastudio.com/
